Trump Hasn’t Said a Word About His Candidate Losing Pennsylvania – So Here’s What the White House Cooked Up

‘Candidates That Embrace the President Going Into This Fall, We Think, Will Have Better Prospects’

President Donald Trump has not said a word about Rick Saccone losing to Conor Lamb in the PA-18 special election Tuesday night.

And the White House is refusing to answer a simple question about the huge upset in Pennsylvania, where the candidate that Trump supported and campaigned for lost to a Democratic newcomer.

President Trump flew to Pennsylvania on Saturday to endorse Rick Saccone, a far right wing Christian extremist Republican state lawmaker who was trying to win the open seat for Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district.

And even those it was by a razor thin margin, Saccone lost to Conor Lamb, a Democrat who is a former marine and former federal prosecutor.

“Does the President accept that Conor Lamb won in Pennsylvania-18?” a reporter asked Deputy White House Spokesperson Raj Shah on Air Force One Wednesday afternoon.

The simple answer would have been, “Of course.” But nothing the Trump White House can be that simple, everything has to be shrouded in obfuscation.

“So let me say a few things, just very briefly, about that race,” Shah told reporters, according to the press poll report. “You know, the President’s engagement in the race turned what was, you know, a deficit for the Republican candidate into what is, essentially, a tie.”

Going into the weekend Conor Lamb was up six points in the latest poll.

“Also, you know, the Democrat in the race really embraced the President’s policies and his vision, whereas he didn’t really embrace Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Leader,” Shah claimed, which is astonishingly false.

“I’m not going to comment beyond that on the race; I’ll let the political officials do that. But those are just the White House’s observations on the election last night.”

Apparently the president believes ObamaCare shouldn’t be repealed, his tax cuts are a “giveaway” to the rich, and apparently the president is pro-choice. Also, apparently, the president doesn’t believe in taking any corporate PAC money. Because those are Lamb’s positions, and what he ran on.

Yes, Lamb supports Trump’s tariffs, and yes, he doesn’t think we need more gun control laws – remember, this is deep red Pennsylvania.

But claiming Lamb embraced Trump’s policies is a lie.

Which brings us to Raj Shah’s next remarks.

“Look, Republicans running for office — and the President does want candidates that embrace his policies and his vision to win up and down the ballot.  Republicans running for office have a great record to run on,” Shah insisted. “So candidates that embrace the President going into this fall, we think, will have better prospects.”

Who’s going to tell him?
