Trump Brags He Just Had a ‘Great’ Meeting in the Oval Office With the NRA – NRA Brags About How They Just Won
Late Thursday night President Trump took to Twitter to brag about his “great” meeting with the NRA, and the NRA returned the favor, revealing that they have the president in the palm of their hands – or at least, at the edge of their trigger fingers.
Just after 10 PM Trump posted this tweet, admitting he invited the gun lobby into the Oval Office:
Good (Great) meeting in the Oval Office tonight with the NRA!

About one hour earlier NRA top lobbyist Chris Cox, the executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action – its lobbying arm – posted a tweet bragging about meeting with the president and Vice President Mike Pence. In it, he also bragged that the president and Vice President “don’t want gun control.”
In other words, they just revealed they have total control over both POTUS and VPOTUS. And they just bragged about how they just won.
I had a great meeting tonight with @realDonaldTrump & @VP. We all want safe schools, mental health reform and to keep guns away from dangerous people. POTUS & VPOTUS support the Second Amendment, support strong due process and don’t want gun control. #NRA #MAGA

It was just one day ago that the president held what some believed believed was a groundbreaking bipartisan meeting with House and Senate leaders to put together a gun control bill.
Just as he did with DACA, Trump promised lawmakers he would sign anything they gave him, even if he didn’t like it.
He also told the Republicans it was silly for them to be afraid of the NRA, and that he would stand up to the gun lobby for them.
Apparently that promise is now broken.
UPDATE: 11:08 PM ET –
The New York Times sums it up, writing, “the twin tweets suggest that it may have taken the gun rights group only about 24 hours to persuade the president to back away from the positions he took embracing Democratic gun control measures during a remarkable, televised meeting on Wednesday with members of Congress.”
