‘Chamberlain Would Be Proud!’ Trump Mocked for Latest Tweet That Proves Appeasing Putin Is His Top Priority
President Trump is being vociferously mocked and attacked as “DO NOT CONGRATULATE-gate” is well into day two. After new broke that the U.S. President congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on “winning” re-election when the election was neither free nor fair, and after all the attacks Russia has made against America and our closest allies, many in the U.S. were outraged.
That outrage expanded after news broke Tuesday evening, revealing that not only did Trump congratulate Putin, but his national security advisors specifically warned him not to. “DO NOT CONGRATULATE” reportedly was written on his briefing materials, exasperating the break in protocol.
Wednesday afternoon, Trump posted two tweets defending his actions, attacking his predecessors, and trying to appear Reaganesque.
I called President Putin of Russia to congratulate him on his election victory (in past, Obama called him also). The Fake News Media is crazed because they wanted me to excoriate him. They are wrong! Getting along with Russia (and others) is a good thing, not a bad thing…….

…..They can help solve problems with North Korea, Syria, Ukraine, ISIS, Iran and even the coming Arms Race. Bush tried to get along, but didn’t have the “smarts.” Obama and Clinton tried, but didn’t have the energy or chemistry (remember RESET). PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH!

The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman, who has broken many stories about Trump, offered her take on why Trump weighed in:
So the whole “he didn’t get expressly briefed on this” thing goes out the window because he can’t stand cable headlines saying he didn’t obey orders and wants to look in control https://t.co/X6yGGd6UYl

Some mocked Trump’s attempt to look like Reagan:
“Mr. Gorbachev, please talk to me about what you want to do with this wall of yours. You know, someday. If it works for you. No pressure or need to tear it down. I’m certainly not going to dictate to you.” https://t.co/sAVtSU8XnB

Peace through strength? Trump hasn’t show strength ONCE with Putin. He’s appeased him every step of the way. At this point, we have to entertain the very real possibility that our president has been compromised by a foreign enemy. https://t.co/fc1mfCrIek

“Mr. Khrushchev, congratulations on your recent deployment of missiles in Cuba. Fake News says they’re nuclear-tipped, but you’ve assured me they’re not, and who am I to disagree? Btw, my country does bad things too!
PS Have you reviewed my Trump Tower Havana proposal?” https://t.co/juTEUspii3

And many were furious with Trump’s claim that “Getting along with Russia … is a good thing, not a bad thing,” calling it “appeasement,” and even comparing Trump to the late 1930’s-era UK Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, who hoped giving Hitler what he wanted would appease him.
@seanhannity is always talking about appeasement. WTF is this! Chamberlain would be proud!

Explicit appeasement of a foreign despot who rigged a sham election, attacked American democracy, continues to use information warfare against the United States, and just used chemical weapons in an attempted assassination on the soil of America’s most important ally. https://t.co/0QwPRNiwU5

“Russia can help solve problems with Ukraine.” Trump puts forth his appeasement doctrine. https://t.co/qbU5E1zNY2

It’s called “appeasement”. I seem to recall several GOP fainting spells a few yrs ago when there actually wasn’t any appeasement in progress. Now: Russian interference in election, intrusion into US energy networks, alleged poisoning in allied country…nada from GOP. https://t.co/BaHHQzs1v6

Congratulating a dictator is not strength, it is appeasement and an insult to every person who has ever fought for freedom. It is an insult to the Russian people who are not properly represented. And it is an insult to democracy.

You aren’t “getting along” with someone when you do whatever they say, when they don’t respect you or your country. That’s called appeasement. You’re just a treasonous coward.
