Dana Loesch: NRA Isn’t a Lobbyist Group. Internet: LOL, Um, Yes It Is, Here’s Proof.
Calls NRA ‘A Fellowship Organization of Gun Owners’
National Rifle Association spokesperson Dana Loesch is insisting the organization she represents is not a lobbyist group, so the internet decided to school her.Â
On Sunday Loesch jumped into a Twitter conversation attacking a woman who tweeted that “the #NRA represents manufacturers not gun owners!” After a back-and-forth, Loesch posted this rather ignorant response, saying the NRA is a “fellowship organization of gun owners” and calling the NRA a lobbyist group is “smearing” them.
NRA isn’t a “lobby group.†It’s a fellowship organization of gun owners. I can’t take you seriously on any level now that you’ve demonstrated you don’t know anything about the group your smearing. Enjoy your day.

The NRA, in fact, is a lobbyist group that likes to pretend it’s all about its dues-paying members when in reality it’s a consortium go firearms manufacturers working to stop any law or regulation that could cause less sales for the manufacturers it represents. That’s why it’s called the “gun lobby.”
Loesch received quick pushback.
This is an absurd lie. Here are the facts: the NRA has spent at least $45.9 million on direct federal lobbying since 1998. That is in addition to the $150+ million it’s spent on other campaign activities. https://t.co/WCmivL8DWm

Look at the registration: What organization is listed as the lobbying organization? pic.twitter.com/fRJfQnwyyB

Request to all journalists: next time you have @DLoesch on your program, spend all your time just on this one claim that “NRA isn’t a lobby group.” Don’t stray, just this. Unpack all the semantics. Demolishing one claim > hitting 10 points https://t.co/Bl6x15NxFZ

I never said you were a lobbyist. You said the NRA is not a lobby group and you went postal on a private citizen for suggesting as much. Also, members DO fund NRA-ILA. Your distinction is silly and beside the point. But thanks for the clarification. Enjoy your night also. https://t.co/50P9hkZ5Px

And notice Wayne LaPierre is listed as a lobbyist. He’s not just in charge of one “arm” now, is he? pic.twitter.com/FYNU0GZ6Yw

Thank you. NRA-ILA is an “internal division of the NRA” and is “supported principally by contributions from NRA members.” Ergo, a lobby group. And Aristotle is a man. #syllogism

This is just a small example of the firms involved in lobbying for the National Rifle Association at the Senate Lobbying Disclosure Act Database. It includes the NRA. pic.twitter.com/QDAGcHyjOk
