RNC Won’t Be Returning Steve Wynn’s Donations Any Time Soon – if Ever – and Here’s Why

RNC Wants Wynn to Have ‘Due Process’ First – Which Could Be Years, a Decade, or Never

Casino billionaire Steve Wynn resigned his position as Republican National Committee finance chair on Saturday after a Wall Street Journal bombshell detailed accusations from “dozens of people” claiming he engaged in sexual misconduct, including pressuring employees to perform sex acts on him. The Journal says it contacted over 150 people to create its report.

Many have been waiting for the RNC to return the donations Wynn has made to the Republican Party, GOP politicians, and GOP groups.

Almost none have.

RNC chair Ronna McDaniel took to Fox News Tuesday to explain why she won’t be returning Wynn’s donations – at least not any time soon, if ever.

Calling the allegations against Wynn “deeply troubling,” McDaniel told Fox News Tuesday that she took them so seriously “within 24 hours Steve was no longer our finance chair.”

Wynn announced he had resigned on Saturday, but given the extent of the allegations the RNC should have fired him.

“Steve has denied these allegations,” McDaniel noted, adding, “unlike Harvey Weinstein and Al Franken,” as if Franken’s actions were anywhere close to what Weinstein and Wynn have been accused of doing.

“Steve has denied them, there’s going to be an investigation that’s going to take place,” she said.

“He should be allowed due process,” McDaniel insisted.

But in fact, Wynn won’t receive “due process,” unless he is arrested and charged with a crime. Which may never happen, and if it does, any trial could take years, even a decade. Wynn is 76.

Which means the RNC has no intention of returning the “hundreds of thousands of dollars” Wynn donated, according to the Fox News host who interviewed McDaniel.

“So safe to say there’s no plans right now to give those donations back?” the Fox News host asked.

“We’re going to let the investigation take place,” McDaniel repeated.

Under pressure, she also admitted, “We took the allegations seriously enough to remove him as finance chair,” contrary to previous statements.

Former RNC communications director and chief strategist Sean Spicer, who was also President Trump’s press secretary, has said the RNC should return the donations.

Some say that since Wynn was the finance chair for the RNC for the past year, all donations given to the RNC under his leadership should be returned.
