Watch: CNN Blasts Trump for Lying to Firefighters That He’s Signed More Bills Than Any Other President
‘Nope. Not Even Close.’
CNN’s Don Lemon is not putting up with President Donald Trump’s blatant lie that he’s signed more legislation than any other president, breaking the record he claimed was held by Harry Truman.
“You know, one of the things that people don’t understand, we have signed more legislation than anybody — we broke the record of Harry Truman,” President Trump told members of West Palm Beach Fire Rescue #2. “And they were saying, if we get this big tax break — because that’s the legislation of all legislation, that’s the biggest there is.”
Literally not a single word of what the President said there was true.
For the record, Donald J. Trump did not break Truman’s record. Nor Eisenhower’s, Kennedy’s, Nixon’s, Carter’s, Reagan’s, either Bush’s, Clinton’s, Obama’s. He is in last place among the last ten presidents, according to this GovTrack chart:
Reminder to the firefighters who just heard Trump saying he broke a record on legislation passed in first year: He’s in last place among the ten most recent presidents. https://t.co/jrA8s94fk8

Also for the record, Trump’s tax-cuts-for-the-rich bill that he signed in to law is not “the biggest there is.” Not even close. PolitiFact gives that award to President Barack Obama. The Washington Post concurs, reporting, “Trump’s tax cut would even be smaller than two tax cuts passed by Congress under President Barack Obama. We’re sure that must be a source of irritation.”
CNN was not having it. Even their Chyron says, “Not true.”
Trump claims he’s signed “more legislation than anybody”
CNN’s @DonLemon: “Nope. Not even close. The fact is — President Trump has signed fewer bills than any President going back to Eisenhower.”

“Nope. Not even close,” Don Lemon observed. “The fact is — President Trump has signed fewer bills than any President going back to Eisenhower.”
