Steve Bannon Plotted With Anti-Gay Hate Group to Plant a Mole Inside Facebook
‘Alt-Right’ Publisher Working With Evangelical Lobbying Group
Just two weeks before he officially became the CEO of Donald Trump‘s presidential campaign, Steve Bannon plotted with the anti-gay hate group Family Research Council to infiltrate Facebook by planting a mole inside the social media company.
BuzzFeed News reports Bannon and Chris Gacek, the senior fellow for regulatory policy at the Family Research Council, exchanged emails beginning August 1, 2016, discussing the plan.Â
“LinkedIn sent me a notice about some job openings,â€Â Gacek told Bannon in an email. “There is one for a DC-based ‘Public Policy Manager’ at Facebook’s What’s APP [sic] division.â€
“This seems perfect for Breitbart to flood the zone with candidates of all stripe who will report back to you / Milo with INTEL about the job application process over at FB,” he continued.
“Milo†is former Breitbart News Tech Editor Milo Yiannopoulos, to whom Bannon forwarded Gacek’s email the same day.
“Can u get on this,†Bannon instructed his staffer.
On the same email thread, Yiannopoulos forwarded Bannon’s request to a group of contracted researchers, one of whom responded that “[it] Seems dificult [sic] to do quietly without them becoming aware of efforts.â€
BuzzFeed calls it a “secret attempt to find bias in Facebook’s hiring process.” It does not detail any other email exchanges between Bannon and the Family Research Council, nor why the two would be plotting together in general.Â
Bannon officially became the Trump campaign CEO two weeks later, on August 17. He went on to become the Trump White House’s chief strategist before leaving the administration last month, on August 18.
Some responses via Twitter:
Still reeling from the news broken on #AM2DM about Bannon & @FRCdc. Evangelical politicial lobby group tied directly to white nationalists.

Breitbart tried to Infiltrate FB hiring. I’m sure it’s fine. 🙄 https://t.co/041gVFyAob

Sure. Head of FRC told Bannon it’d be a perfect job for Breitbart to have someone “report back” to BB and Bannon told Milo to “get on this.”

An FRC employee tipped Steve Bannon off to hiring opportunities inside Facebook, which in light of other news, is damning.
