Feds Want to Throw ‘Pharma Bro’ Martin Shkreli in Jail After an ‘Escalating Pattern of Threats’

Shkreli Asked His Facebook Followers to Get a Piece of Hillary Clinton’s Hair

Former pharmaceutical entrepreneur Martin Shkreli is now a convicted felon out on bail and awaiting sentencing, but after a Facebook post about Hillary Clinton prosecutors want him in jail now.

“Shkreli has engaged in an escalating pattern of threats and harassment that warrant his detention pending sentencing,” prosecutors said, according to Reuters.

In a Sept. 4 Facebook post Shkreli told followers he would pay $5000 for a piece of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s hair, as she makes her way across the country promoting her new book.

“The Clinton Foundation is willing to KILL to protect its secrets,” Shrekli wrote in the now-deleted Facebook post Monday, adding, “try to grab a hair from her.”

“I must confirm the sequences I have,” he wrote, referring to her DNA. “Will pay $5,000 per hair obtained from Hillary Clinton. Payment after the sequence matches. Good luck, patrollers.”

The Hill reported that “Shkreli’s post appears to put a target on Clinton’s back shortly before she begins a tour to promote her new book, “What Happened,” in which she shares her side of events during the 2016 presidential campaign.”

Attempting to snatch hairs from the former presidential candidate could be seen as assault against Clinton.

Shkrelli has earned the nicknames “Pharma bro,” and “the most hated man in America” after exponentially boosting the price of a life-saving drug used by cancer and HIV/AIDS patients more than 5000 percent, from $13.50 to $750 per pill. Those pills cost $1 to manufacture, Shkreli admitted.

Federal prosecutors now say Shkreli’s behavior indicated he is a “danger to the community.” They have asked a federal judge to revoke his $5 million bail, which would place him in jail.
