Internet Mocks Trump After He Tweets He Can’t Pass Any Bills Yet Has Passed More Than Most

“Obama Never Had to Tell Americans ‘How Great He Was’. We Just Knew.”

In a Friday morning rant it took President Trump just eleven minutes to go from lamenting that eight Democrats control the Senate thanks to the filibuster and he won’t be able to get any bills passed, to bragging that he has passed more bills than almost any other president.

Trump, of course, is not responsible for passing more bills than almost any other president – at least, not bills of substance – and in fact his impact on the House and the Senate has been at best minimal, and at worst actually harmful to his own agenda. Threatening lawmakers of one’s own party, by name, is rarely productive.

The other problem with Trump’s attack on Democrats is the filibuster was not the problem when it came to passing major bills he wanted. ObamaCare repeal, for example, required just 50 votes plus the Vice President, yet Trump couldn’t manage to pull together enough Republicans to get that done (fortunately.)

Here’s what Trump said Friday morning:

“If Senate Republicans don’t get rid of the Filibuster Rule and go to a 51% majority, few bills will be passed. 8 Dems control the Senate!”

Minutes later:

Few, if any, Administrations have done more in just 7 months than the Trump A. Bills passed, regulations killed, border, military, ISIS, SC!”
