Congratulations, Mr. President! Top New Polls Today Say Your Disapproval Ratings Have Never Been Worse!
‘Trump’s Overall Approval Numbers This Week Are Lower Than Any Barack Obama Received During His Entire Presidency’
Donald Trump has been president for 194 days. He keeps telling America he’s accomplished more than any other president at this point, and on one measure he’s actually correct. No president in the history of polling has ever had worse ratings, and today, new polls find even Trump’s ratings have never been worse than now.
Congratulations, President Trump! You’ve achieved something no one ever thought possible!
First up: Gallup’s daily tracking poll, which is the average of the past three days of polling.
Gallup puts President Trump’s disapproval rating at 60% – matching his all-time worst which he previously hit in June. Gallup puts Trump’s approval rating at just 36%, one point away from his historic worst, 35%.
Â
Calling it “a new low,” today’s just-released Quinnipiac University poll finds a mere 33% of Americans approve of Trump’s performance, and a whopping 61% disapprove. Both measurements are even worse than Gallup’s tracking poll. One month ago the Q poll put Trump at 55% disapproval, and 40% approval – so, he’s performing even worse now.Â
Also worse, the Q poll finds “American voters say 54 – 26 percent that they are embarrassed rather than proud to have Trump as president. Voters say 57 – 40 percent he is abusing the powers of his office and say 60 – 36 percent that he believes he is above the law.”
President Trump is not levelheaded, say 71 – 26 percent of voters, his worst score on that character trait. Voter opinions of most other Trump qualities drop to new lows:
- 62 – 34 percent that he is not honest;
- 63 – 34 percent that he does not have good leadership skills;
- 59 – 39 percent that he does not care about average Americans;
- 58 – 39 percent that he is a strong person;
- 55 – 42 percent that he is intelligent;
- 63 – 34 percent that he does not share their values.
“It’s hard to pick what is the most alarming number in the troubling trail of new lows for President Donald Trump,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.Â
“Profound embarrassment over his performance in office and deepening concern over his level-headedness have to raise the biggest red flags.Â
“The daily drip drip of missteps and firings and discord are generating a tidal wave of bad polling numbers.Â
“Is there a wall big enough to hold it back?”
Ouch.
Should President Trump call these “fake polls,” let’s remind him of his favorite polling firm, Rasmussen. Here’s what Trump tweeted in June:
The new Rasmussen Poll, one of the most accurate in the 2016 Election, just out with a Trump 50% Approval Rating.That’s higher than O’s #’s!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 18, 2017
Today, Rasmussen reports its “daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 38% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Sixty-two percent (62%) disapprove.”
Ouch. Ouch.
That’s a 12-point drop in six weeks.
And, just to rub salt int he wound, Rasmussen adds: “Trump’s overall approval numbers this week are lower than any Barack Obama received during his entire presidency.”
Meanwhile, FiveThirtyEight statistician Nate Silver weighs in, noting, “Trump approval numbers are at or near all-time lows in many polls lately.”
It’s not just Rasmussen (or Quinnipiac). Trump approval numbers are at or near all-time lows in many polls lately. https://t.co/CPHJOG7sE6 pic.twitter.com/B3ZLoOLnNI

Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.Â
