BREAKING: Priebus Out as Chief of Staff – Trump Announces Homeland Security Head as Replacement
Trump Calls John Kelly ‘A True Star of My Administration’
JUST IN: Pres. Trump names Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly as new Chief of Staff, replacing Reince Priebus https://t.co/zJKHj98dE5
— MSNBC (@MSNBC) July 28, 2017
President Donald Trump has just accepted the forced resignation of his Chief of Staff, Reince Priebus, and announced he is replacing him with the head of Homeland Security, former General John Kelly.
I am pleased to inform you that I have just named General/Secretary John F Kelly as White House Chief of Staff. He is a Great American….
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 28, 2017
…and a Great Leader. John has also done a spectacular job at Homeland Security. He has been a true star of my Administration

MSNBC’s Chuck Todd notes the President’s tweets come from Air Force One.

Trump minutes later posted a “thank you” tweet to Priebus:
I would like to thank Reince Priebus for his service and dedication to his country. We accomplished a lot together and I am proud of him!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 28, 2017
According to several reporters, Priebus handed in his resignation but Trump wanted to make the move faster than Priebus did:
Reince tells me he resigned yesterday.

Reince had hoped to remain for a few days. But POTUS, urged on by a number of advisers saying “make one move or the other,” pulled plug
— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) July 28, 2017
The move is effectively a firing. The New York Times reports Priebus “was pushed out.”
It comes on the heels of an embarrassing series of personal attacks by Trump’s brand new Communications Director, Anthony Scaramucci, including falsely alleging that Priebus leaked his financial documents, leading him to contact the FBI.
Scaramucci had the president’s “green light” to bully Priebus into quitting, but that apparently did not work. Both men were on Air Force One Friday when Trump traveled to Long Island, but Scaramucci did not return to D.C. on the plane.
Kelly is the former commander of United States Southern Command and is considered to be an independent.

does Donald Trump genuinely think he is supposed to eliminate someone each week

Let me try again to get this question out:@Scaramucci said he reported to @POTUS not @Reince45.

Firing of Reince Priebus shows the Feb statement by @realDonaldTrump that his Admin was a “fine-tuned machine” was a lie then & is a lie now https://t.co/tUB8IBKsTZ

Reince Priebus was the shortest-serving White House chief of staff in American history, edging out Ken Duberstein.

Has any other President fired his Chief of Staff, National Security Advisor, Director of Communications & Press Secretary in first 6 months? https://t.co/tiINHBUA3N

Let’s face it folks: firing Reince Priebus and replacing him with a general is just the latest example Trump thinks of himself as a dictator

With Spicer and Reince out, establishment GOP has functionally lost all loyalties to this White House.
But, will they start jumping ship?
