Morning Briefing – 5 Things for Wednesday: Democrats Should Be Saying the ‘I’ Word
Here’s What You Need to Start Your Day
Good Wednesday morning!
Yesterday was a turning point. The evidence against the President is overwhelming. Impeachment now seems far more likely than not, but Donald Trump isn’t called “Teflon Don” for nothing.
Here are 5 things you need to know to start your day:
- The revelation of the Comey memo, detailing that Trump asked the Director of the FBI to drop the investigation against Mike Flynn, is going to be seen as the line in the sand, the defining moment when Republicans who want to go down in history as putting country before party dropped their support of Donald Trump. Democrats thinking ahead to next year’s elections need to target GOP lawmakers who refuse to put “America first” at this juncture. Any Republican standing by Trump on Friday needs to be voted out.
- Expect many more revelations out of Jim Comey. He’s been asked to testify in an open Senate hearing. He has much to tell the American people, and it seems he won’t be shy or feeling any loyalty to Trump. And there will be many more memos – this was just the beginning.
- Democrats need to grind the Trump agenda to a halt. No more appointments approved, especially not whoever Trump nominates as FBI Director. No tax cuts, no destruction of health care, no gutting of Medicaid, likely not even infrastructure, if it is a privatization bill. Nothing.
- On a different note, Chelsea Manning is being released this morning.
- And lastly, how does your state rank?
