5 Things for Friday – Cinco de Mayo Edition
Here’s What You Need to Know to Start Your Day
Good Friday morning!
Wow! What a week, especially what a crazy day Thursday. Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Here are 5 things you need to know for today:
- After all that angst and upset, it appears the Senate is refusing to take up the House bill to repeal and “replace” ObamaCare that Republicans passed Thursday without a single Democratic vote. The Senate plans on drafting their own bill instead. That doesn’t mean their version will be great, but it does mean a delay. And it means putting America through this one more time, while real problems with our health care system that need fixing – and easily could be fixed – continue to be ignored. The simple fact is Congress could mandate insurance companies to stay in the exchanges, but they refuse to do so.
- In case you’re wondering which Republican cast the deciding vote on the American Health Care Act to repeal ObamaCare yesterday, you can “thank” California’s Darrell Issa, the richest man in Congress.Â
- Hillary Clinton next week will launch a political group to support those actively working against Donald Trump. Onward Together is its name.
- North Korea has just accused the CIA of working with South Korea in an attempt to assassinate Kim Jong-un.
- And lastly, one year ago today, this racist tweet from the man who is now our president:
Happy #CincoDeMayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics! https://t.co/ufoTeQd8yA pic.twitter.com/k01Mc6CuDI
