Report: Over $42M Raised for Trump’s 2020 Bid and RNC This Year, Almost $500K Has Gone to Trump Properties

$274,013 of Campaign Funds Have Gone Toward Renting Trump Tower in 2017

On the day Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States, he filed for his re-election. The newly-minted POTUS soon even found himself holding campaign rallies.

Now, in the first quarter of 2017, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) has revealed that over $42 million has been raised for his 2020 presidential bid and the Republican National Committee (RNC), with almost $500,000 of those funds reportedly going to Trump-owned properties.

The near $42 million was raised through two joint fundraising committees and the RNC, The Washington Post reported, with over 250,000 online contributions from Trump and RNC supporters alike.

The Wall Street Journal further elaborated on the FEC’s filings, The Hill pointed out, detailing just how the nearly $500,000 was  distributed to Trump properties. Of over $6 million in campaign funds spent in the first quarter of 2017, $274,013 has gone toward renting Trump Tower alone.

An additional $58,685 went toward Trump International Golf Club lodging in West Palm Beach, Florida, and $13,828 went toward renting facilities and catering costs at Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Earlier this month, a Trump Organization attorney confirmed to ProPublica that the trust Donald Trump had placed his business assets into had been modified to allow him to withdrawal profits and underlying assets at any time.
