NEW: Mike Flynn Under Pentagon Investigation, Was Warned to Not Accept Foreign Government Payments

  • ‘The White House Is Covering Up for Michael Flynn’ Says Rep. Cummings

  • Democrats Charge Trump White House Refusing to Release Any Documents

Retired Lt. General Mike Flynn is under investigation by the Pentagon’s Inspector General. Flynn, who was fired by then-President Barack Obama and later hired by candidate Donald Trump, who later promoted him to be President Trump’s National Security Advisor, has been the subject of ongoing discussion ever since a photo of him sitting next to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and at the same table as Green Party leader Jill Stein, at an event for the Russian propaganda machine RT, was published in 2015.

Flynn, according to Politico, is under investigation by the Pentagon’s IG over payments he received from foreign governments after retiring from the Army. According to documents released by House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Elijah Cummings, Flynn was warned in to not accept any payments from foreign governments.

He has admitted to accepting about $35,000 for the speech he gave in 2015 at the RT event, and has “come under scrutiny for lobbying work he did on behalf of Turkey,” Politico notes. At the same time, he was working for candidate Donald Trump.

Congressman Cummings Thursday morning chastised Sean Spicer for making excuses as to why the White House would not release any documents related to Flynn. “Come on, man,” the Maryland Democrat said in a press conference Thursday morning.
