For Over 12 Hours One Democratic Senator Has Been Filibustering Neil Gorsuch – the Real Way, by Standing and Speaking

#holdthefloor

U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley, a Democrat of Oregon, for more than 12 hours now has been filibustering the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court. Senator Merkley right this moment is standing alone, speaking about Judge Gorsuch and why his decisions are so extreme and not in keeping with mainstream jurisprudence.

You can watch live above, on Facebook, or on C-SPAN2.

“I plan to keep speaking for quite a while longer, as long as I’m able,” Merkley said. That was at 6:46 PM EDT.

Sadly, not enough have noticed. There’s been little mainstream media attention on this rare and noble act. So rarely do Senators actually filibuster – and extremely challenging act, but one that deserves our admiration.

Let’s show Sen. Merkley some support – head over to his Facebook page and share it with your friends. Retweet his tweets. Use the hashtag #holdthefloor.

Republicans have vowed to confirm Gorsuch on Friday. Let’s help stop that from happening.
