U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley, a Democrat of Oregon, for more than 12 hours now has been filibustering the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court. Senator Merkley right this moment is standing alone, speaking about Judge Gorsuch and why his decisions are so extreme and not in keeping with mainstream jurisprudence.

Sadly, not enough have noticed. There’s been little mainstream media attention on this rare and noble act. So rarely do Senators actually filibuster – and extremely challenging act, but one that deserves our admiration.
