‘Absolutely’: Trump Warns There’s ‘A Chance’ of ‘A Major, Major Conflict With North Korea’ (Audio)
Says South Korea Must Pay US $1 Billion for Missile Defense SystemÂ
President Donald Trump is warning there is a chance America could see a major military conflict with North Korea. “There is a chance that we could end up having a major, major conflict with North Korea. Absolutely,” the Commander-in-Chief told Reuters in an exclusive Oval Office interview (audio below).
Trump, who will celebrate his 100th day in office on Saturday, said he would prefer diplomatic solutions but will not take military action off the table.
“We’d love to solve things diplomatically but it’s very difficult,” he said. Trump has increasingly been calling key aspects of his job as difficult and complex, as he did in late February, saying “nobody knew that healthcare could be so complicated.”
And in his latest stunning move, the President announced that South Korea must pay the U.S. $1 billion for the cost of the U.S. THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) anti-missile defense system. THAAD uses kinetic energy to destroy missiles without detonating nuclear warheads.Â
Trump also “complained that Saudi Arabia was not paying its fair share for U.S. defense.”
If that weren’t a large enough attack on South Korea, which has been a strong U.S. ally as it sits on the border of the North Korean dictatorship, President Trump also said he will, as Reuters reports, “renegotiate or terminate” the U.S. trade deal with South Korea.
This has become Trump’s go-to modus operandi, and it’s becoming exceptionally, transparently fluff.
Earlier this week Trump leaked through several White House sources he was deliberating canceling the NAFTA trade deal with Mexico and Canada, after he imposed a 20% tariff on Canadian soft lumber used in home building – which actually will harm U.S. New home buyers. He then announced leaders of both countries called him and asked him to not pull out, so he acquiesced.Â
Asked when he would announce his intention to renegotiate the pact, Trump said: “Very soon. I’m announcing it now.â€
