Trump Kicks Off MLK Weekend By Attacking Civil Rights Icon John Lewis

President-Elect Unleashes One Of His Most Offensive Twitter Outbursts To Date

Predictably, Donald Trump took to Twitter on Saturday morning to respond to Democratic Georgia Congressman John Lewis, who said Friday said he doesn’t see the president-elect as legitimate and won’t be attending his Inauguration.

“Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results. All talk, talk, talk – no action or results. Sad!” Trump wrote.

Based on his short fuse and fragile ego, it’s hardly surprising that Trump couldn’t help himself. But in this case, he crossed the line in what was arguably his most offensive Twitter outburst to date.

Monday is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and Lewis is a beloved civil rights icon and former Freedom Rider who was beaten by police and arrested dozens of times. Trump is already regarded as racist by many, and this won’t do anything to help.

Here’s how Twitter responded:
