REPORT: Trump ‘Gets Bored and Likes to Watch TV’ So Aides ‘Have to Control Information That May Infuriate Him’
It’s Going to Be a Long Four Years
Politico talked to Trump administration insiders as it took a look at the first few days of Donald Trump’s presidency, and in a report published Sunday night concluded that the next four years will likely resemble the past few days.Â
Trump’s “team will be very combative, even when the facts are not on their side, trusting that their political base dislikes the news media and will believe them no matter what,” the report says, adding, “when Trump grows angry, he will usually want the strongest response possible, unless he is told no, and that he will often govern or make decisions based off news coverage.”
But perhaps the most stunning, and yet, least surprising portion was this:
“One person who frequently talks to Trump said aides have to push back privately against his worst impulses in the White House, like the news conference idea, and have to control information that may infuriate him. He gets bored and likes to watch TV, this person said, so it is important to minimize that.”
Let’s look at that again.
Aides “have to control information that may infuriate” Trump, who “gets bored and likes to watch TV,” presumably the news and not HBO, “so it is important to minimize that.”
As some on social media suggested, it sounds like America elected a child, and his aides are his babysitters.
@RiskyLiberal @joshtpm How can Trump run the country when he can’t even manage himself?. Our president needs a babysitter 24/7…ridiculous!

So Trump literally needs a babysitter. Or is it an Alzheimer’s minder? https://t.co/MKGyTEEWRF

Some more responses:
Trump is 2 days on the job and he gets bored. His solution is to watch tv.
We are so fucked. https://t.co/mZHKQkhL3x— Valdivia (@TheCorollary) January 23, 2017
If Trump is so bored, he should read the US Constitution and learn something! https://t.co/mCz4nmpMYv
