Growing List Now Includes Nearly One in Four House Democrats Who Are Boycotting Trump Inauguration
At Least 46 Democratic Members of Congress Skipping Friday’s Swearing-In
Nearly one out of every four House Democrats will be boycotting Donald Trump’s inauguration, most in response to the president-elect’s attacks on their fellow Democratic Congressman, John Lewis. Lewis on Friday told “Meet the Press” he felt Trump is not a “legitimate” president, because of Russia’s intervention in the election.
On Monday, NCRM’s list included 31 House Democrats. That number has grown to at least 46, or just under 24 percent of the Democratic caucus, overnight.
The Washington Post Tuesday morning placed the number at 44, but since then Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ) and Rep. G. K. Butterfield, the first from North Carolina, have announced their intentions to skip Trump’s inauguration.
We must stand against Trump’s bigotries- birther conspiracies, attacks on Goldâï¸ parents & civil rights heroes. I won’t attend inauguration.

After prayerful consideration, I cannot in good conscious attend the inaugural ceremony for President-elect Donald Trump. (1/3)

Considering Mr. Trump’s brand of division & insult, I believe it would be hurtful to my constituents for me to attend the inauguration.(2/3)

It is my hope that President Trump will transform his behavior and lead our nation in a positive direction for all Americans. (3/3)
