FBI Director Comey Responds to News Inspector General Will Investigate His Actions Surrounding Clinton’s Emails

FBI Director James Comey says he is “grateful” the Inspector General of the Department of Justice has announced he is opening an investigation into his pre-election actions surrounding Hillary Clinton’s emails.
“I am grateful to the Department of Justice’s IG for taking on this review,” Comey said in a statement. “He is professional and independent and the FBI will fully cooperate with him and his office.”

Comey, who still has six years left of his 10-year tenure, added, “I hope very much he is able to share his conclusions and observations with the public because everyone will benefit from thoughtful evaluation and transparency regarding this matter.”
