Watch Live: Governor-Elect Roy Cooper Speaks on North Carolina Republicans’ Failure to Repeal HB2
Governor-Elect to Make a Statement on Today’s ShenanigansÂ
Just one hour ago North Carolina Republicans, after spending the entire day stalling and trying to not repeal the anti-LGBT law that has dogged them since they rammed it through in March, succeeded in failing to repeal the law. Given that Senate Leader Phil Berger had a press release and a statement on his campaign website attacking Democratic Governor-elect Roy Cooper up even before Wednesday’s special session officially was adjourned, its clear he and the Republicans in the General Assembly had no intention of repealing HB2, but using it as a cudgel to attack Cooper.
For example, this false statement:

The Governor-elect will make a statement on today’s shenanigans shortly.
