GOP Issues Christmas Message Suggesting Trump Is ‘King’ and Comparing Him to Jesus Christ

Many on Social Media Are Angered, Furious

The Republican National Committee Christmas Sunday published a press release that many feel suggests they believe President-elect Donald Trump is “king,” while comparing him to Jesus Christ.

“Merry Christmas to all!” the holiday message beings. “Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind. Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King,” it reads.

The statement does not mention Trump by name but coming directly from the GOP, many believe it is an attempt to elevate Trump.

On social media, many expressed anger and outrage, bewilderment, and upset:

Others have also noted that the RNC’s statement is biblically incorrect, as the the three wise men, according to the Bible, did not arrive the night Christ was born, but at some point after.
