Petition Calling for Comey to Resign Says FBI ‘Appears to Be Little More Than an Arm of the Republican Party’
‘The American People Have Lost Faith in an Agency That Now Appears to Be Little More Than an Arm of the Republican Party’
A petition created by two activists is calling on James Comey to resign after the veteran law enforcement official, now the Director of the FBI, sent an inappropriate letter to Congress Friday regarding Hillary Clinton‘s emails, and the Bureau later tweeting out government files on Bill and Hillary Clinton.
“Last week, the FBI violated its own rules and meddled in the US election by launching yet another inquiry into Hillary Clinton based on spurious evidence,” the petition reads. “This week they did it again, publishing records from a 15-year-old investigation of Bill Clinton.”
“Yet, the FBI refuses to release anything about Donald Trump’s housing discrimination case or his campaign’s alleged ties to Russia. Whether FBI Director James Comey is a political partisan, or has simply lost control of a rogue FBI, the American people have lost faith in an agency that now appears to be little more than an arm of the Republican party. The FBI needs to clean house, starting with its own Director,” the petition concludes.
You can read and sign the petition at TimeToResign.
The effort to have Comey resign comes from AmericaBlog founder and digital strategist John Aravosis and communications strategist Alan Klein.
