Duck Dynasty Canceled
Viewership Tanked From 10 Million to 1.5 Million
“Duck Dynasty,” the A&E reality TV series featuring anti-LGBT right wing religious extremists, has been canceled, USA Today reports. The five-year old show gained popularity quickly among the radical right but grew even more popular when patriarch Phil Robertson gave an interview to GQ just before Christmas, 2013.
In that infamous interview, Robertson was revealed to be a religious extremist. He attacked gay people as sinners, saying:
“Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong,†in today’s modern world. “Sin becomes fine.â€
“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.â€
“Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.â€
Phil Robertson went on to make waves over the following years, usually by denouncing LGBT people and liberals.

A&E Thursday released a statement praising the show, which will run through April.
“After five years, 130 episodes and one of the biggest hits in the history of cable, the Robertson family and A&E jointly decided that Duck Dynasty, the series, will come to an end after this season,” the statement reads. The Robertsons will star in several planned holiday specials after the show’s finale.Â
The show, which drew 10 million viewers at its height, now has only about 1.5 million viewers.
