Trump’s National Political Director Taking ‘A Step Back From the Campaign’ for ‘Personal Reasons’
Says He Is Not Resigning
The highly controversial national political director of the Donald Trump for President campaign has just taken “a step back” from the race for “personal reasons,” Politico reports.
Former lobbyist Jim Murphy says he is not resigning but with little more than two weeks left until Election Day and early voting already taking place, there’s little time left.
“Murphy is a close ally of Paul Manafort, Trump’s former campaign chairman, having worked together on Bob Dole’s 1996 presidential campaign,” Politico notes.
At The Daily Beast, Gideon Resnick in June reported on Murphy joining the Trump campaign.

“If you don’t believe in climate change and hate human rights, Donald Trump has a spokesman for you,” Resnick wrote, accusing him of “using fake ‘volunteers’ to push for the privatization of social security, and accepting money from ExxonMobil to deny the impacts of climate change.”Â
Resnick also said “Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign chairman and former traveling salesman for a murderer’s row of dictators, reportedly helped bring Murphy on board.”
