Over the Past 24 Hours 12 Women Have Come Forward to Accuse Donald Trump of Inappropriate Behavior
From Sexual Assault to Walking in on Naked Teen Beauty Contestants, Allegations Against Trump Grow
After the 2005 tape of Trump describing how he treats women, sexually assaulting them and getting away with it because he’s a celebrity, then denying it on national television during the second presidential debate, the floodgates opened. On Wednesday in publications from The New York Times to Buzzfeed to PEOPLE magazine and other news outlets, 12 brave women came forward to share their stories accusing the Republican nominee for president of at least inappropriate behavior, and in some cases the very same actions he described then tried to pawn off as “locker room talk,” and then flat-out denied.
Wednesday, story after story broke detailing the ugliness of Trump’s alleged acts against women.
Here’s a breakdown:Â
The New York Times: One woman, Jessica Leeds, alleges that Trump three decades ago sexually assaulted her by molesting her on an airplane after she was moved to a first class seat next to him. She says he even put his hand up her skirt. Another woman, Rachel Crooks, claims that Trump in 2005 aggressively kissed her in a Trump Tower elevator when she was 22 and working for a company that does business with him. She felt powerless because it was Donald Trump.
Buzzfeed: First four, and now five teenaged girls who participated in Miss Teen USA say Trump walked in to the dressing room while they and others were in various states of undress. Trump at the time was the owner of the pageant. Some of the participants according to the story were naked. One accused Trump of saying, “Don’t worry, ladies, I’ve seen it all before,” while another said Trump’s team told them to go up to him, and fawn all over him. Again, these were teens, aged 14-19.
PEOPLE:Â PEOPLE writer Natasha Stoynoff says in 2005 while interviewing Trump and his wife Melania in Palm Beach. “Trump shut the door behind us. I turned around, and within seconds he was pushing me against the wall and forcing his tongue down my throat.Â
“You know we’re going to have an affair, don’t you?†he declared, in the same confident tone he uses when he says he’s going to make America great again. “Have you ever been to Peter Luger’s for steaks? I’ll take you. We’re going to have an affair, I’m telling you.â€
Palm Beach Post:Â Mindy McGillivray says Trump groped her while she was working for a photographer at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.Â
“All of a sudden I felt a grab, a little nudge. I think it’s Ken’s camera bag, that was my first instinct. I turn around and there’s Donald. He sort of looked away quickly. I quickly turned back, facing Ray Charles, and I’m stunned.’’
The Guardian: “Donald Trump deliberately walked in on two young Miss USA 2001 contestants (not the Miss Teen USA as above) while they were naked and getting dressed for a rehearsal, one of the former beauty contestants has claimed in an interview with the Guardian.” The second, Tasha Dixon, told her story to CBS of Los Angeles:
“Our first introduction to him was when we were at the dress rehearsal and half naked changing into our bikinis,†Dixon said in an interview with KCAL 9. “He just came strolling right in. There was no second to put a robe on or any sort of clothing or anything. Some girls were topless. Other girls were naked.â€
NBC News: “Temple Taggart McDowell, who represented Utah as a 21-year-old in the 1997 Miss USA pageant in Shreveport, La., said Wednesday night that she was introduced to Trump during a rehearsal by her father, who was a fan of Trump’s.”
“It was at that time that he turned to me and embraced me and gave me a kiss on the lips,” McDowell said.
Later, McDowell said, Trump offered to help her get contracts with elite modeling agencies, and during a visit to Trump Tower in Manhattan at Trump’s invitation, he again embraced and kissed her on the lips, this time in front of two pageant chaperones and a receptionist.Â
The New York encounter made one of the chaperones so “uncomfortable” that she advised McDowell not to go into any rooms with Trump alone, McDowell said. The other chaperone accompanied her into Trump’s office, she said.
These allegations do not include others over the years. The Daily Beast has a timeline.
