US Army Tweets NCRM Story on Trump’s Lies
Tweet Angered Conservatives, Army Apologizes
The U.S. Army on its official Twitter account Monday tweeted a story by The New Civil Rights Movement detailing Donald Trump’s pattern of lying. The article, “Donald Trump Lied 87 Times Last Week — Or Once Every 3 Minutes, 15 Seconds,” by NCRM Contributing Editor John Wright, states the GOP nominee “made 87 erroneous statements in five days last week,” citing analysis by Politico.
Some, mostly conservatives, on Twitter were quick to demand an explanation, contacting both NCRM and the U.S. Army. The tweet was removed quickly and the Army offered an apology and explanation:
@Frustrated_2016 We apologize. This tweet was sent out erroneously by an employee. This is not an official U.S. Army stance.

@Dawgtrooper It was a mistake. The tweet was erroneously posted by an employee. We have removed the tweet

@theyarecoping this was a mistake sent out erroneously by an employee. This does not reflect any official stance by the U.S. Army

“An employee responsible for the Army’s social media accounts mistakenly posted a political article to the Army’s Twitter page that was intended for her personal account,” CNN reports, citing an official US Army statement.Â
However, others were pleased with the Army’s tweet on the NCRM story:
Shout out to the person running the @USArmy twitter the other day when the Trump Lies tweet came out. Never been so proud to be an Army brat

@USArmy shouldn’t apologize for that tweet because @realDonaldTrump does lie every 3 minutes! I don’t think Trump knows what truth is.

@USArmy @newcivilrights some will criticize you, but at least you’re tweeting the truth.

@USArmy accidentally tells the truth– that @realDonaldTrump frequently lies. This is wild https://t.co/TnCuw4O7Ii
