Reporter Arrested At Trump Rally As GOP Nominee Renews Attacks On Media

Campaign’s Disdain for Press Appears to Reach Disturbing New Heights

A reporter was arrested outside a Donald Trump rally in Houston on Saturday, as the GOP nominee’s disdain for the media appeared to reach disturbing new heights.

According to VICE News, reporter Alex Thompson was charged with trespassing after entering the lobby of the Omni hotel, where Trump was speaking to an anti-immigration group.

Thompson reportedly had requested media credentials to the rally earlier in the week, but was told his status was “pending.” He was arrested minutes after entering the lobby to ask Trump’s communications staff whether a final decision had been made on press access.

Thompson’s arrest came hours after Trump viciously attacked both CNN and a New York Times columnist on Twitter, in the wake of his disastrous day on the campaign trail.

Then, Trump went after Pulitzer Prize-winning NYT columnist Maureen Dowd, who criticized the GOP nominee during an appearance on CNN to talk about her new book.

Several Twitter users noted that Trump only uses the word “neurotic” when referring to women:
