Pandering to Catholics, Trump Announces He Will Sign Anti-LGBT ‘Religious Freedom’ Legislation

First Amendment Defense Act Would Explicitly Authorize Discrimination Against LGBT People

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is now pandering specifically to Catholics with a new press release listing his positions on issues like abortion, education, and so-called religious liberty. Along with several other concerning positions the statement, titled, “Issues Of Importance To Catholics,” includes Trump’s promise he will sign the First Amendment Defense Act, to “protect the deeply held religious beliefs of Catholics and the beliefs of Americans of all faiths.”

However, that alone is a contradiction. Trump has specifically stated repeatedly that he will unite Americans as “one people, under one God, saluting one flag.”

As is conventional with the terminology used in Trump’s press releases, the First Amendment Defense Act has little to do with protecting the First Amendment or religious freedom. Instead, it’s specifically a bill that would allow discrimination against same-sex couples by any person, business, or institution.

The bill aims to block “any discriminatory action against a person, wholly or partially on the basis that such person believes or acts in accordance with a religious belief or moral conviction that marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman, or that sexual relations are properly reserved to such a marriage.”

In other words, the government can’t “discriminate” against someone for discrimination.

The bill defines discrimination against these people as withholding federal money from them or taking away their tax deductions.

If the bill passes Congress and is signed by the president, people like Kim Davis would be able to keep their jobs while refusing to allow gay couples to marry, and public schools with anti-trans policies will be at no risk of losing federal funding.

On the other side of the aisle, Hillary Clinton’s website mentions her support for the Equality Act, which would do exactly the opposite, protecting LGBT Americans from discrimination and adding them to current anti-discrimination laws.

Meadows ‘Will Face Consequences’ for Stonewalling Jan. 6 Committee if He Does Not Comply With Subpoena: Report

Could former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows face criminal contempt of Congress charges like Steve Bannon?

The House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack subpoenaed Meadows, a former GOP congressman, on September 23, over a month ago, and he has yet to comply.

“Our patience isn’t unlimited, and engagement needs to become cooperation very soon,” a Select Committee source told CNN. “As we’ve already made clear, anyone who tries to stonewall our effort will face the consequences.”

The committee sees Meadows, who has been by Trump’s side every step of the way even for months before exiting the House to join the Trump administration, as a “key witness.”

Jan. 6 Select Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) is being patient but that appears to be waning thin.

“If and when the staff says to us it’s not going anywhere, there won’t be any hesitation on the part of the committee to make the referrals” for contempt of Congress he tells CNN.

CNN adds multiple sources have “indicated” Meadows has “been ‘engaging’ in negotiations over the terms of his turning over documents and appearing for a deposition.”

Earlier this week a bombshell Rolling Stone report citing two people involved with planning the January 6 pro-Trump rallies mentioned Meadows nine times, including calling him “someone who played a major role in the conversations surrounding the protests on Jan. 6.”

That report also says those sources describe Meadows “as having had an opportunity to prevent the violence” of January 6, and that “Meadows was 100 percent made aware of what was going on.”

Rupert Murdoch Is a ‘Domestic Threat’ Says Never-Trumper Over Tucker Carlson’s Upcoming Jan. 6 Special

Published

Stuart Stevens is calling out News Corp founder and chief Rupert Murdoch as a “domestic threat” in response to a stunning preview clip from Fox News’ top personality, Tucker Carlson, that falsely paints Donald Trump’s January 6 insurrection as a false flag operation by Democrats.

“If Rupert Murdoch were applying for American citizenship today, there would be ample evidence to classify him as a domestic threat and deny citizenship,” Stevens says of Murdoch, an Australian-born naturalized U.S. citizen. “He’s a dangerous man who should be treated as the anti-democratic propagandist he is.”

Stevens is known as one of the top Republican strategists who became a never-Trumper and co-founded The Lincoln Project. Murdoch owns News Corp, the parent company of Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post, and numerous other outlets across the globe. He became a U.S. citizen in 1985 to meet the requirements to purchase and own TV stations.

The clip of Tucker Carlson’s three-part series on the January 6 insurrection (below) is being called “fucking insane” by fellow never-Trumper Tim Miller, a former GOP strategist.

“I’d like to focus in on the fact that Fox is hosting one of the main architects of the Stop The Steal insurrection Ali Akbar Alexander for this 1/6 special,” Miller adds. “Going full Newsmax.”

In a scathing strike against Carlson, former Obama HUD deputy assistant secretary Brandon Friedman compared the Fox News personality to a radio station known for helping to incite the Rwandan genocide in which more than one million people died and up to half a million women were raped.

Here’s the clip, which is loaded with falsehoods and anti-American, anti-democracy propaganda:

‘Your Entire Resume Skippy’: Madison Cawthorn Mocked After Asking ‘What’s the Biggest Lie a Politician’s Ever Told?’

Madison Cawthorn

U.S. Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) is getting blasted after attacking President Joe Biden.

“What’s the biggest lie a politician has ever told?” Cawthorn asked. “Biden said that the $3.5 TRILLION spending bill will cost zero dollars.”

It did not go well for him, with many pointing to his own well-documented and debunked lies.

Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) was among those reminding Americans that Cawthorn lied when he claimed his tragic auto accident “derailed” his naval career.

An investigation by his hometown newspaper, citing a 2017 sworn deposition reveals “Cawthorn admitted his application to the academy had already been rejected before the crash.”

But on his campaign website Cawthorn claimed, “Madison’s plans were derailed … after he nearly died in a tragic automobile accident that left him partially paralyzed and in a wheelchair.”

Others slammed Cawthorn and some shared more of Cawthorn’s lies and allegations of sexual misconduct against him:
