Breaking: Mike Pence Just Refused to Call Former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke ‘Deplorable’
Duke Is Most Recognized KKK Leader in America
Mike Pence says he’s not in the name-calling business and refused to call former KKK leader David Duke “deplorable.” Months ago, Donald Trump, also on live television, refused to denounce Duke and white supremacists in general, claiming he was unfamiliar with neo-Nazi hate groups and it would be unfair to summarily denounce them with more investigation.
“What Hillary Clinton did Friday night was shocking,” the GOP vice presidential nominee told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “The millions of people who support Donald Trump around this country are not a basket of anything. They are Americans, and they deserve the respect of the Democratic nominee for the president of the United States,” Pence said, as The Hill reports.
The Indiana governor continued, saying her comments, calling half of Trump’s supporters “deplorables,” was “really shocking,” and if Clinton has such a “low opinion” of Americans, she should not serve as president.
Pence did not deny that half, or some, of Trump’s supporters are racists, homophobes, Islamophobes, etc., as Clinton had accused.Â
“Did she walk it back? She said she regretted saying ‘half.’ So, what was it? 40 percent?” Pence pushed, noting Clinton’s remarks Saturday.
“She has insulted millions of Americans, and her answer to that is to regret the math that she used?”
Blitzer asked Pence if he would if he would call the former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke, “deplorable.” Pence refused, saying merely he is not in the “name calling business.”
