Trump Warns Top Christian Evangelicals America’s ‘Leaders Are Selling Christianity Down the Tubes’
In Closed-Door Manhattan Meeting Trump Speaks to 400 Top Christian Evangelical Leaders
Donald Trump is spending much of Tuesday with about 400 top Evangelical Christian leaders, including heads of anti-gay hate groups like Tony Perkins (Family Research Council) and Tim Wildmon (American Family Association). One of those in attendance at the closed-door, no reporters allowed meeting is E.W. Jackson, who ran unsuccessfully to be the Republican Lt. Governor of Virginia, on a campaign of anti-gay hate.Â
Jackson posted videos of Trump speaking today to Twitter. Among them, this, with Trump warning them America’s leaders are selling evangelicals “down the tubes,” as Right Wing Watch reports.

“I don’t think about Hillary in terms of religion,” the video begins. “She’s been in the public eye for years and years and yet there’s nothing out there, there’s, like, nothing out there,” Trump says, although it’s unclear what he means.
“She’s going to be an extension of Obama but it’s going to be worse because with Obama, you had your guard up, with Hillary you don’t, and it’s going to be worse. So, I think people were saying, some of the people were saying, ‘Let’s pray for our leaders.’ Well, you can pray for your leaders, and I agree with that, pray for everyone, but what you really have to do is you have to pray to get everybody out to vote, and for one specific person. We can’t be politically correct and say we pray for all of our leaders because all of your leaders are selling Christianity down the tubes, selling the evangelicals down the tubes, and it’s a very, very bad thing that’s happening.”
In another video, Trump promises everyone will be saying “Merry Christmas,†because apparently that’s what he thinks drives evangelicals.Â

An then this, where Trump tells them how much he owes Christianity.
