Donald Trump a few minutes ago posted a vile, hypocritical lie to Twitter:

It’s entirely unclear what Trump was thanking the LGBT community for, but it’s beyond comprehension how he thinks he can use LGBT people to his advantage, especially in the days after the LGBT community was targeted for death in the worst terror attack since 9/11. The tweet, while a lie, is designed to divide the LGBT community and Muslims, which is how Trump operates. 

On Monday during a speech on terrorism the Republican candidate for president falsely claimed he is the most pro-gay candidate in any major party running for office, and assailed the Obama administration’s record on LGBT civil rights, which he called “LBGT.”

Trump at one point in his speech called the Obama administration’s policies “a disgrace” to the LGBT community.”

And despite having just told one of the most anti-LGBT crowds in America, Ralph Reed’s Faith & Freedom Coalition, on Friday that he will “restore faith to its proper mantle in our society,” and his administration “will respect and defend Christian Americans. Christian Americans,” he repeated for emphasis, Trump on Monday claimed to now be more pro-LGBT than Hillary Clinton.

Also on Friday Trump offered these pandering words to the Christian evangelicals at the Faith & Freedom Coalition: “It’s really the people who go to church, who work and who work in religious charities. And share their values. These are the foundations of our society,” Trump claimed. “Marriage and family as the building block of happiness and success — so important,” Trump added.

Donald Trump, for the record, opposes same-sex marriage, flip-flopped on transgender people using restrooms, and supports the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA), which hands anyone in the nation the “right” to discriminate against LGBT people. He has said he will likely put justices on the Supreme Court who will overturn the right of same-sex couples to marry. Trump’s anti-immigration policies also dramatically affect the LGBT community. Few of Trump’s LGBT-related policies other than these are known because he refuses to answer direct questions with direct answers.
