Breaking: After Democrats Take Over the House for Gun Control, GOP to Hold Emergency Meeting
Republican Leadership Unsure How to Handle Democratic Insurgency
House Republicans will hold an emergency meeting Wednesday night at 6:00 PM to try to decide how to handle the Democratic insurgency over gun control. House Democrats, led by Rep. John Lewis of Georgia, began a sit in Wednesday morning at about 11:30 AM. Dozens of Democratic Congressmen are literally sitting on the actual floor of the House, while others are seated in chairs, refusing to leave until Republicans allow a vote on gun control.

Republicans, since they are the majority party, have banned C-SPAN from using its cameras to broadcast the event, so the cable network is broadcasting a live Periscope video from one Congressman’s cell phone.

As thousands watch online, many more are taking to social media to observe and participate in the event, giving the House GOP an obvious challenge.Â
If Speaker Paul Ryan uses the Sergeant at Arms to forcibly remove House Democrats, he’ll provoke nationwide outrage and protests. If he allows the insurgency to continue, it will be clear he has lost control of Congress.Â
On Twitter, neither Speaker Ryan nor the House GOP have even acknowledged they have literally lost control of the House Floor.Â
