Watch: ‘The Daily Show’ Has Some Advice for Hillary Clinton
‘Is the Anything Hillary Can Do to Get People to Like Her Again?’
When Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State, she was more popular than President Barack Obama or Vice President Joe Biden. For much of her time the vastly traveled State Dept. head had a popular approval rating of 66 percent. By the time she left office, it was 69 percent.Â
But as soon as she declared her candidacy for president, her approval ratings began to drop. Today, they’re underwater, almost as bad as Donald Trump’s.
Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” has some hysterical yet excellent advice for the Democratic frontrunner. “Senior Clinton Campaign Analyst” Michelle Wolf weighed in, offering the embattled Democratic candidate some advice.
“You’re not running to be everybody’s friend, you’re running to be the boss,†a hard-hitting Wolf tells Clinton. “The point is, no one likes their boss, and Hillary, we need you to be our boss. We don’t want you to be, but we need you to be.â€
She turns to Trevor Noah and emphasizes her point: “I hate my boss.â€
Wolf also says, “Hillary just needs to be herself. Remember this picture?,” she asks, pointing to the iconic one above that spawned the famous “Texts from Hillary” memes. “That’s who we need to run the world! A no-nonsense, indoor-sunglass-wearing on her own plane boss lady who eats enemies and [sh*ts] policy!”
“Hilary is braces,” Wolf admits, despite not being able to keep a straight face throughout. “They’re awkward, painful, you don’t want to be seen with them, but they get the job done. What is this controversy even about? Emails, a server. We’re all walking around here pretending like we know what a server is. ‘Yeah, I could definitely point it out in this room!,'” she quips.Â
“The only question we should ask about the emails is, ‘Did they get where they’re supposed to go?’ Yes? Well, shut the [f*ck] up,” she says.Â
“‘Oh, no! She has a shrill voice! It hurts my manhood!,’ Wolf says, mocking, well, some men. “Look, take it from someone else who has a shrill voice, maybe it’s not her problem, maybe you just need to fix your bitch-ass ears!,” Wolf insists.
“The point is, no one likes their boss. Hillary, we need you to be our boss. We don’t want you to be but we need you to be,” she concludes.
“Because if you aren’t, in a couple of years, we are going to be eating grilled squirrel from a hole in the ground with our children asking, ‘But why do we have to live like this, mommy?’ And we’ll have to respond, ‘We didn’t vote for the smart lady because of some emails she sent from a different server.’ And the child will say, ‘What’s a server?’ And we’ll say, ‘I don’t know Kevin! I never [f*cking] knew, now shut up and eat your squirrel before King Trump comes back!'”
