John Oliver’s ‘Last Week Tonight’ Brilliantly Slams Hollywood Whitewashing Ahead of #OscarsSoWhite

There aren’t enough roles for Black actors? Maybe, but why have white actors been taking them for years?

The Oscars, featuring, for the second year in a row an entire slate of 20 “Best Actor” nominees, without a single person of color among them. Last year’s #OscarsSoWhite sadly came in rather handy again this year.

It is the epitome of institutional racism.

Some have been saying that perhaps Black actors just haven’t been as good as white actors, which is ridiculously offensive, while others have been saying that there just aren’t enough roles for people of color, which might be less offensive, but as John Oliver’s “Last Week Tonight” hilariously proves, is historically inaccurate.

Take a look, and laugh, but it wouldn’t hurt to remember this tonight as the Oscars begin:
