Nearly One Out Of Three Trump Voters In SC Would Ban Gays From Entering The U.S.

GOP Frontrunner’s Supporters Hold Beliefs Straight Out Of The 1950’s

In South Carolina, “Make America Great Again” means flying the Confederate flag over the state capitol, wishing the South had won the Civil War, banning gay people and Muslims from entering the U.S., keeping track of Muslims in a database, and shutting down all mosques and banning Islam.

A new PPP poll of views of South Carolina voters shows just how extremist, racist, and homophobic Donald Trump‘s supporters there are.

Nearly one in three (31%) of Trump’s SC supporters would ban gay people from entering the U.S., almost double of any other candidate’s supporters.

80 percent of Trump’s fans in the Palmetto State support Trump’s call to ban Muslims from entering America, 62 percent want a national database to track Muslims, 40 percent want to shut down all mosques in America, and one-third (33%) think Islam itself should be outlawed.

Of course, there’s more.

“70% think the Confederate flag should still be flying over the State Capital, to only 20% who agree with it being taken down,” PPP reports.

“In fact 38% of Trump voters say they wish the South had won the Civil War to only 24% glad the North won and 38% who aren’t sure. Overall just 36% of Republican primary voters in the state are glad the North emerged victorious to 30% for the South, but Trump’s the only one whose supporters actually wish the South had won.”

Trump is leading in South Carolina with 35 percent, followed by Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, both with 18 percent. John Kasich has 10 percent, and jeb Bush and Ben Carson each have 7 percent.

“Make America Great Again” in South Carolina, at least, means “Make America Christian White Supremacist Again.”

And that’s a frightening fact.

Pence to Blow Off Trump’s Big Military Sendoff – and Cites ‘Logistical Challenges’ as Reason: Report

President Donald Trump wants to have a big sendoff by supporters and allies on Wednesday morning at Andrews Air Force Base — but Vice President Mike Pence reportedly will not be attending.

According to Washington Post reporter Josh Dawsey, Pence “is not expected to attend” Trump’s sendoff because it would be “logistically challenging” for him to attend Trump’s departure and President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Trump’s relationship with Pence has deteriorated after the president falsely told supporters that Pence had the power to unilaterally throw out the results of the 2020 presidential election from his position as president of the Senate.

When Pence refused to scrap the electoral college vote tallies, Trump accused him of lacking courage, and the president’s supporters began chanting, “Hang Mike Pence!” as they stormed the United States Capitol building.

Pence had long been one of Trump’s most loyal and dedicated political allies, although that apparently changed after the Secret Service had to rush him to safety to avoid betting attacked by an angry mob of Trump supporters.

Internet Drags ‘Demagogue’ Pompeo for ‘White Supremacy’ After Saying ‘Multiculturalism’ Is ‘Not Who America Is’

‘Going Full White Supremacy’

In a shocking tweet barely 24 hours before he will no longer be the U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo unleashed a disturbing tweet denouncing “multiculturalism” and claiming it is “not who America is.” He also linked multiculturalism to authoritarianism. The outgoing diplomat, a former GOP congressman and former CIA director,  is being lambasted on social media for his claim.

The United States is built on the histories and heritages of people from other countries who travel to America. By definition, the United States is a multicultural society: “the presence of, or support for the presence of, several distinct cultural or ethnic groups within a society.”

He has spent the past few weeks pushing out a large number of tweets bragging about what he sees as his successes while attempting to position himself as the logical successor to President Donald Trump. On his last full day in office Secretary Pompeo is being called a “demagogue” and is being accused of white supremacy for his remarks.

“Woke-ism, multiculturalism, all the -isms — they’re not who America is,” Pompeo tweeted. “They distort our glorious founding and what this country is all about. Our enemies stoke these divisions because they know they make us weaker.”

“This country was built on multiculturalism,” CNN’s Keith Boykin said, blasting Pompeo. “That’s why a descendant of Italian immigrants like you could become Secretary of State. You should know this history. If you don’t, you should never have been Secretary of State. If you do and you said this anyway, you’re a demagogue.”

Here’s how others are responding.

Biden Nomination of Rachel Levine, First Openly Transgender Person for Senate-Confirmed Role, Praised by LGBTQ Orgs

Incoming President Joe Biden will officially nominate Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine to become the Assistant Secretary of Health at the Dept. of Health and Human Services. The Biden transition team calls Dr. Levine a “deeply experienced and effective public servant and public health expert,” who is now “poised to become the first openly transgender federal official to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.”

Dr. Levine, who is also a Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine, also previously served as Pennsylvania’s Physician General. She is a Harvard College and Tulane University School of Medicine graduate, and trained at the Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Governor Tom Wolf, a Democrat, nominated Dr. Levine to both Pennsylvania positions, where she was unanimously confirmed.

LGBTQ organizations are praising the choice of Dr. Levine.

“Our nation is fortunate to have Dr. Rachel Levine nominated for a position so important to ending this pandemic and her experience on the frontlines in Pennsylvania will prove invaluable as Assistant Secretary,” said Annise Parker, the former Houston mayor who now serves as President and CEO of the LGBTQ Victory Institute, in a statement. “Her nomination is groundbreaking and shows the Biden administration will choose the most qualified individuals to lead our nation regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Dr. Levine is making history and will transform Americans’ perceptions of trans people when she takes office and begins to work on their behalf.”

“Dr. Levine is imminently qualified to serve as assistant secretary at Health and Human Services,” Rea Carey, Executive Director of the National LGBTQ Task Force said in a statement. “Her work in Pennsylvania was exemplary and impactful to the health of all Pennsylvanians. When the National LGBTQ Task Force praised the nomination of Pete Buttigieg as Transportation Secretary, we said it should the ’the first of many firsts,’ and this is exactly what we meant. The appointment of more diverse LGBTQ people at all level of the administration is imperative and that includes trans and non-binary people and people of color. We are thrilled that Dr. Levine has been nominated, especially at HHS, where the LGBTQ community has been under serious attack by the outgoing administration.”
