Actor Donnie Wahlberg Under Fire for Snubbing Gay ‘Brother’ to Endorse Marco Rubio
Wahlberg Once Heralded as LGBT Ally and Hero for Supporting Gay Bandmate’s Right to Marriage Endorses GOP Candidate Who Would Repeal It
Donnie Wahlberg is a founding member of the boy band New Kids on the Block, an actor starring in CBS’ ‘Blue Bloods,’ and now a Marco Rubio supporter. Wahlberg claims he’s never voted for a Republican before, but has now embraced the ultra-conservative Christian evangelical Marco Rubio and is even stumping for him,

If you missed @marcorubio on @cnn #GOPTOWNHALL – you missed all the reasons he’s hands down the best man to be our next president. #heymarco

But Wahlberg is under fire for supporting the very anti-gay Marco Rubio after proudly supporting his gay “brother” – as he calls his bandmate Jonathan Knight-Rodr – and same-sex marriage last June, on the day the Supreme Court ruled same-sex couples have the constitutional right to marriage:
I’m already happily married, and now I’m happy that my brother @jonathanrknight can get married in this country too! pic.twitter.com/tn6AamMcsy

Sorry, @DonnieWahlberg! You can’t support both your gay brother @JonathanRKnight and @marcorubio. #Shame #LGBT https://t.co/Vhqtt3TNFG

NKOTB’s Donnie Wahlberg supports Rubio. Rubio does not support Gay Marriage. Donnie’s bandmate, Jon, is Gay and married. Oops.

curious, what former #NKOTB fans (95% female or gay) and the other former members are saying about Donnie Wahlberg endorsing @marcorubio

@Clarknt67 @marcorubio @DonnieWahlberg Whalberg supports Rubio? Are you kidding me? What a slap in the face to @JonathanRKnight #Horrible
— Damion Rowan (@DJRMewzique) February 22, 2016
@Clarknt67 @DonnieWahlberg @JonathanRKnight @marcorubio Rubio has said he wants to overturn this. Way to be a supporter. #Shame

#MarcoRubio has a new “celebrity endorsement” in Mr. Wahlberg, who apparently has gay friends. Has he ever met them? pic.twitter.com/rMEE5klc3k

How rude @DonnieWahlberg to support @marcorubio who wants @JonathanRKnight marriage & other #LGBT marriages illegal https://t.co/o58eTZig1n
— DEADLEE (@deadlee2213) February 21, 2016
And @marcorubio is promising to reverse our #marriageequality victory @DonnieWahlberg. So thanks. 😒#LGBT pic.twitter.com/MJx0NdYrhx

In fact, Marco Rubio has repeatedly attacked same-sex marriage and says he has a plan to overturn or reverse the Supreme Court’s ruling.
Stunningly, Rubio’s supporters are claiming the Wahlberg endorsement shows their candidate is making the GOP more inclusive:
.@marcorubio is an inclusive candidate. He is who we need & he will be the next #POTUS – @DonnieWahlberg #TeamMarco pic.twitter.com/pq8XcObHZG
— Team Marco Nevada (@TeamMarcoNV) February 22, 2016
Not only has Wahlberg endorsed Rubio, he wants a Rubio/Fiorina ticket:
#Rubio President#Carly VP#Jeb Sec Of State#Christie Atty General#Carson Surgeon Gen#Sanders Pres of Sweden#Trump Apprentice Season 13!
— Donnie Wahlberg (@DonnieWahlberg) February 14, 2016
And Wahlberg even tweeted this:
#RIPJusticeScalia 🇺🇸
— Donnie Wahlberg (@DonnieWahlberg) February 14, 2016
Of course, perhaps it all makes sense. His wife is anti-vaccine queen Jenny McCarthy:
Can’t cheer for @broncos or @panthers, so I cheered with my wife @jennymccarthy instead! #DSF #SiriusXM #SB50 pic.twitter.com/443IxGMDLm
