County’s Costs From Oregon Occupation Approach $1 Million – Judge Says ‘Let’s Send Bundy The Bill’

Ammon Bundy hasn’t shown signs of leaving but when he does he can expect criminal charges – and now financial ones too.

Ammon Bundy‘s takeover of a federal installation hasn’t been going well. Now in its second week, the 150 militia men his father claimed were coming never showed, he’s had to beg for snacks and underwear, the sheriff has said he can expect the FBI to charge him, and now a county judge wants to charge him too – between $60,000 and $75,000 a day in what the occupation is costing the county.

At a packed town meeting Monday night, Harney County Judge Steve Grasty said he will send Ammon Bundy an invoice.

Bundy’s occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge began on Saturday, January 2. Now in its eleventh day, with no sign of ending anytime soon, that bill today would stand at between $660,000 and $825,000. It will hit $1 million in the next few days, given the figures Judge Grasty reportedly quoted.

Grasty chastised Bundy and his militia, whom many are calling domestic terrorists, for being heavily and visibly armed.

And he also echoed the overall feelings of the vast majority of the townsfolk, who want the Bundy occupation to end.
