Watch: SNL Brilliantly Mocks Opponents Of Houston’s HERO
Saturday Night Live takes on the ridiculous arguments of those who opposed Houston’s equal rights ordinance over the “bathroom issue.”
SNL’s Pete Davidson took to “Weekend Update” to lambast and mock the opponents of Houston’s Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO), which was repealed by a huge margin on Election Day. Groups organized by the religious right and “pro-family” groups spread disgusting lies and claimed the bill would have allowed men access to women’s restrooms just by claiming they were women.
“Apparently this anti-discrimination law was voted down because some people claim it’s just an excuse to allow guys into women’s restrooms,†Davidson said. “The theory is that men, in their relentless quest to watch women go to the bathroom, are going through years of hormones, surgery, changing their name, their wardrobe, coming out to their family — all for that big payoff of peeing in a room without urinals.â€
“What is this fantasy that they think is going on in there?†he said. “There’s no shirtless pillow fights. There’s no disco ball.â€
“Even if for some reason you’re desperate to use women’s bathrooms, you don’t need a sex change to do it,†Davidson quipped. “You could just walk in. There’s no bouncer.â€
