Watch: Colbert Mocks One Million Moms Over Heartwarming Campbell’s Soup Gay Dads Ad
Stephen Colbert takes on the anti-gay culture crusaders to support Campbell’s equality efforts.
The great thing about Stephen Colbert taking over “The Late Show” is he really hasn’t changed much from the Stephen Colbert we all loved at Comedy Central’s “Colbert Report.”
Take his take-down of One Million Moms Tuesday night.
Colbert took the anti-gay misnomered group to task over their steaming hot attack on Campbell’s Soup for releasing an adorable, heartwarming ad featuring a real-life family that’s headed by two gay dads.Â
You’ve probably seen the ad by now. It’s gotten nearly half a million views on YouTube. In it, two dads mimic Star Wars’ Darth Vader, saying, “I am your father.”
Colbert mocked One Million Moms by saying “they promote fundamentalist Christian values by, as far as I can tell, getting mad at TV commercials.”
“One Million Moms is furious that Campbell’s is being associated with gay men,” Colbert says. “Psst, nobody tell them about Andy Warhol,” he quips.
And Colbert voices what we all know: One Million Moms is basically just “free publicity” for all the brands it attacks.
