A defiant and emotional Kim Davis holds a press conference. Video.
Saying she is “here for a seemingly impossible choice. My conscience or my freedom?,” Kim Davis said she will not interfere with the issuance of marriage licenses. She said she will not take action against deputies who issue licenses against her wishes.
Kim Davis spoke to reporters, supporters, and opponents this morning at 7:45 AM. The Rowan County clerk says her deputies can issue licenses but they will be marked as being issued under federal court order and will not bear her name, an accommodation U.S. District Judge DavidBunnng seemingly agreed to.
Davis insisted again this morning that she has “grave doubts” those licenses are valid and believes those licenses are in direct violation of Kentucky statues, despite what Judge Bunning and legal experts have stated.Â
Davis made clear she will not issue licenses and will continue to pursue the issue at the state level, and possibly the federal level again.
