Horrific Murder Of Second Trans Woman This Week – Video Shows Bystanders Did Nothing To Help
Surveillance video catches several people walking over to look at a stabbed transgender woman. No one bothers to help or even call the police.Â
A 66-year-old transgender woman was murdered early Thursday morning in Fresno, California. Police are currently investigating the case as a homicide, but many residents are calling it a hate crime.
KMPH FOX News 26 aired a surveillance video showing the victim being called over to an SUV with several people inside. The victim, identified as both Kenton Haggard and K.C. Haggard, is then stabbed in the neck with a knife just before the vehicle speeds off. The victim can be seen trying to flag down a passing car prior to falling to the ground.Â

NCRM is choosing to not include the video, which repeatedly shows the murder.
“It was premeditated, and it was thought out,†explained Karen Adell Scot, the founder of Transcare.org. “They had the knife ready. They baited the person to the vehicle and then they followed through with tremendous precision on the strike.”
What makes this tragic event even worse is that the surveillance video caught several people walking over to look at the crime scene, and none of them bothered to help. Erik Rosales, from KMPH FOX News 26 reported that it took twenty minutes before anyone even called the police.

Scot organized a vigil that was attended by a small group of community members. Gay Central Valley posted that a second vigil will be held at the Fresno LGBT Community Center next week, and they anticipate it to be on Thursday, July 30th at 6pm. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-2449.

This is at least the second murder of a trans person this week, and at least the 11th murder of a transgender person this year, matching the number of transgender murders in all of 2014.
On Tuesday morning, India Clarke was found apparently beaten to death in a Tampa, Florida. Comments on the ABC News website regarding Clarke’s murder are horrible, and show that many people have no sympathy. Some even blame the victim for her own death. We still have a long way to go.Â
Editor’s note: The tweet from Raquel Cervantes disappointingly misgenders Haggard, well after the time it was known she was a transgender woman.Â
