Hillary Clinton Just Released A Marriage Equality Video Right Before The Supreme Court’s Ruling
Ahead of the Supreme Court decision, a new Clinton campaign video features many clips and photos of same-sex couples and weddings, and it’s sure to touch your heart.
This morning Hillary Clinton‘s presidential campaign released a well-produced video highlighting several same-sex couples, including several speaking during their vows.
During the rest of the video the voiceover is Clinton herself, with audio from speeches she’s given, including her famous 2011 speech in which she announced, “Gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights” – a full year before President Obama announced his support of marriage equality.
The Clinton campaign also tweeted the video, with a link to a special LGBT splash page.

“One the early clips in the video shows the same footage from Clinton’s campaign announcement video of Jared Milrad and Nathan Johnson, a Chicago same-sex couple who support Clinton and are planning to wed this summer,” the Washington Blade’s Chris Johnson reports. “In addition to this video, she’s the only presidential candidate to issue a written statement recognizing June as Pride month.”
The video also includes a clip from the marriage proposal of Carl Marucci and Drew Marsenison, in front the famous Bethesda water fountain in New York City’s Central Park.
“The U. S. Supreme Court’s voice in this matter is of radical importance. Human rights mustn’t ever be acknowledged or granted based on the whim of the people, even if it is in support of us (because those rights can just as easily be voted down in the future),” Marucci, a Hillary Clinton supporter, told The New Civil Rights Movement today. “Rather, human rights are inherent and across the board. In this election–and always–we should support candidates who will settle for nothing less than equality for all.”
