J.K. Rowling Blasts Westboro Baptist Church In Epic Tweet Over Ireland Marriage
Harry Potter author and frequent Twitter superstar J.K. Rowling took time out to blast the very anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church.
Much of the western world is thrilled that the good people of Ireland voted last week to extend marriage to same-sex couples, via a constitutional amendment. But not, of course, the Westboro Baptist Church – who, like most anti-gay bigots and professional haters these days are finding their relevancy highly diminished.
The anti-gay hate group often promises to picket the funerals of LGBT people, celebrities, and service members, but they sent out a new threat on Tuesday, promising to picket the wedding of two fictional, albeit beloved, characters.
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling was only too happy to offer them her feelings on the subject.
.@WBCsigns Alas, the sheer awesomeness of such a union in such a place would blow your tiny bigoted minds out of your thick sloping skulls.

She also took a moment to respond to a fan who thinks ignoring haters will make them disappear (it won’t, by the way.)
I don’t care about WBC. I think it’s important that scared gay kids who aren’t out yet see hate speech challenged. https://t.co/XumjDmEjuw

This is certainly not the first time Rowling has been a big hit on Twitter.
In March she had a Twitter chat with a fan unhappy Dumbledore was gay, and last year she took on a former fan complaining she had “blindsided” him with the Dumbledore news.
