Finally, TLC Breaks Silence On Josh Duggar Molestation Scandal With Inept Two-Sentence Statement

TLC, the company that produces and airs “19 Kids and Counting,” after three full days has finally said something about the scandal plaguing Josh Duggar and his family.

Since Tuesday, when In Touch magazine broke the news that culminated Thursday night in Josh Duggar acknowledging allegations he sexually molested and abused five girls, including his sisters, while under his parents’ roof as a teen, TLC has gone into radio silence. With the exception of one tweet linked to the PEOPLE magazine statement Josh and his family made, also announcing his resignation from the anti-gay hate group Family Research Council, TLC hasn’t uttered a peep.

Nor has its parent company, Discovery Communications, which did, as NCRM reported earlier today, have time in its no doubt busy corporate schedule to issue a press release titled, “DISCOVERY LIFE CHANNEL REVEALS THE SHOCKING TRUE STORY OF THE MAN WITH NO PENIS.”

But finally, TLC has taken to Facebook to issue a statement about one of its all-time top viewed shows.

“Effective immediately, TLC has pulled all episodes of 19 Kids and Counting currently from the air,” the statement reads. “We are deeply saddened and troubled by this heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and victims at this difficult time.”

That’s it.

No plan about the future, no attempt to take proactive action, say, offer to meet with victims’ groups to plan an appropriate response, perhaps to help educate the millions of “19 Kids and Counting” viewers, many of whom don’t see a problem with what Josh Duggar did, since he apologized and Jesus has forgiven him.

Discovery Communications (NASDAQ:DISCA) stock dropped a mere 0.45% today, down .15 to 33.15, an indicator that Discovery investors would like TLC to try to ride out this storm.
