Huckabee: Same-Sex Marriage Will Lead To The ‘Criminalization Of Christianity’
Mike Huckabee once again proves he is unfamiliar with the U.S. Constitution, and willing to say anything to win the White House.
With the Supreme Court ready to hear four same-sex marriage cases this Tuesday, conservatives are ramping up the anti-gay rhetoric in the mistaken belief that the justices will hear their words and actually care about them.
Case in point: Mike Huckabee.
The likely 2016 Republican presidential candidate who has spent a large portion of his time since his term as Arkansas’ governor ended attacking the LGBT community, on Thursday spoke on a conference call organized by Tony Perkins’ anti-gay hate group, the Family Research Council.
“Christian convictions are under attack as never before,†Huckabee old listeners. “Not just in our lifetime, but ever before in the history of this great republic. We are moving rapidly toward the criminalization of Christianity.â€
Right Wing Watch, which obtained and published the audio (below) reports the call “was meant to rally pastors to participate in the FRC’s upcoming “Stand for Marriage†event.”

Huckabee also told pastors their tax-exempt status could be “threatened,” because of marriage equality, and they could face “criminal charges” if they defy “the new government norm,” and labeled the fight against same-sex marriage “the battle for biblical truth.”
He claimed that if gay people become “a protected class,” pastors “would be criminalized for preaching the scriptural truth about holy marriage.”
Ironically, it would appear, the 59-year old ordained Southern Baptist preacher is unaware of the First Amendment.
