Focus On The Family Founder James Dobson Doesn’t Know What Bisexual Means (Audio)
Listen as one of the founding fathers on the religious right’s anti-gay movement embarrassingly reveals he doesn’t even know what he’s been fighting.
In yet another example of how the religious right has been spreading hate, ignorance, and lies about the LGBT community, one of their top leaders reveals he doesn’t even know what being bisexual is.
It’s not unreasonable to expect a psychologist who has made a good portion of his living “educating” people about homosexuality and bisexuality to actually know what the term bisexual means.
And yet, here’s audio of Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council, saying that bisexuality is “orgies.”
On Friday, in a radio interview with Mat Staver, Rick Scarborough, and Tim Wildmon – three religious right anti-gay activists – Dobson takes issue with pastors “who are compassionate toward those who have attractions to same-sex individuals.”
“I would like them to think, just for a moment, about ‘LGBT,'” Dobson says. “The ‘B’ stand for bisexual! That’s orgies! Are you really going to support this?”
Of course, people who are bisexual are attracted to people who are male and to people who are female. Bisexuality has nothing to do with the type or degree of monogamous or non-monogamous relationships one prefers.
One would expect a man who literally has spent four decades waging war against LGBT people to actually know what the B stands for.
Just last week, Dr. Dobson warned if marriage equality becomes the law nationwide, the U.S. will devolve into a civil war.Â
