Christian Florists’ ‘Damnation Conveniently Hinges Only On Gay Marriage Boutonniere Business’
Jon Stewart hilariously mocks states enacting so-called religious freedom laws to “protect” Christians from gay people.
Realizing that same-sex couples will likely be found to have a constitutional right to marriage by the U.S. Supreme Court, states across the nation are enacting legislation to “protect” Christians from having to do business with gay people. These so-call “religious freedom” or “religious liberty” laws, are in reality a religious “license to discriminate.” Some, based on the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act, may be found to be unconstitutional themselves, but for now the religious right will do anything to give their hate, homophobia, and bigotry cover.
Jon Stewart Monday night took on these states, pointedly attacking their hypocrisy.Â

He says these religious freedom laws are being passed “to protect the real victims of discrimination: Christian florists, who gladly do business with all manner of divorced, non mother and father honoring, covetous, name of the lord in vain taking adulterers – but whose damnation conveniently hinges only on the gay marriage boutonniere business.”
Stewart also labeled recent “Intrastate Commerce Improvement Acts,” designed to nullify all non-discrimination laws enacted by cities and towns, “bulls#@t.”
He also mocked lawmakers attacking transgender people who just want to use the public restrooms.
“Nothing says limited government like micro-managing transgender bathroom use.”
